With particular expertise in family business and family estate planning, he advises local and international families on a wide array of issues and often on an ongoing basis as a trusted family adviser. He is recognised as being particularly able in helping families traverse the challenges arising from intergenerational transfers of ownership and control of both their businesses and their wealth.
He also regularly advises professional trustees (and beneficiaries) on tax and trusts matters, and often lends his services to the litigation department on technically complex trust litigation issues.
With his strong background in trust and tax law, Adrian has developed and now heads the firm’s pension practice, and is instructed by clients on a wide range of matters including the establishment and registration of occupational schemes for large institutional clients and on pension issues arising from acquisitions or mergers between large corporations, as a result of which he now also forms part of the M&A team together with partners Steven Caetano and Christian Caetano”.
In light of recent developments in Gibraltar in relation to Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pensions Schemes (QROPS), Adrian is kept busy advising on the establishment of qualifying schemes and the relevant licensing applications under Gibraltar’s financial services and tax regimes.
Adrian has also been recently instructed by the Ministry of Financial Services to draft legislation introducing Foundations and Private Trust Companies under Gibraltar law.
