ISOLAS LLP announces the departure by Christian Rocca, co-head of the firm’s Litigation Practice, from the ranks of the partnership to become Gibraltar’s first Director of Public Prosecutions.

The post was created earlier this year by Act of Parliament, an initiative that was included as a manifesto commitment of the GSLP Government at the 2015 election.

ISOLAS is delighted for Christian Rocca on the news of his appointment to the post of DPP. It is also of course, given that the appointment marks the departure of one of the firm’s longest serving and most accomplished partners, sad to see him go. Speaking on the occasion of ISOLAS’ client drinks reception last week, Peter Isola, Senior partner, expressed his gratitude for the many years of excellent service that Christian had given the firm.

Remarking on the more than 28 years as an integral part of the firm’s modern history, having also served for a spell as Managing Partner from 2007 to 2010, Peter Isola explained that “I knew for a long time that had Christian been offered the role, it would be have been inevitable, and entirely correct, for a lawyer of Christian’s stature to step up to the challenge. It is a sad moment for the firm of course, but also a happy one, for it marks once more, and in a very public way, the expertise, insight and dedication we all know Christian has brought to this firm, and to the legal profession in Gibraltar at large, during the many years since he set out on his career at the Gibraltar Bar.

The rest of litigation team at ISOLAS, co-headed by Mark W. Isola Q.C., looks forward to continuing to work with its clients and partners and, along with the rest of the firm, wishes Christian Rocca all the very best on the this new and exciting chapter of his career.
