Christian specialises in the fields of insurance and financial services, corporate and general business law. He is particularly active in the Gibraltar insurance market, where he advises open market insurers, captives, insurance managers and intermediaries on a range of regulatory, business conduct and corporate law matters.
Christian has acted as lead counsel on a number of substantial transactions, including the first long term insurance business transfer application of a Gibraltar based life insurance Protected Cell Company (PCC) to be granted by the Supreme Court of Gibraltar. His past experience also includes acting on the high-profile winding-up proceedings, provisional liquidation and subsequent liquidation of two Gibraltar licensed insurance companies
Part of Christian’s extensive regulatory expertise derives from a number of secondments undertaken within the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission, including six-months within the regulator’s insurance supervision division (as it was then known). Most recently he formed part of the Legislative Reform Programme, which is widely regarded as the most significant reform of Gibraltar’s financial and professional services framework in recent history.
Christian contributes the Gibraltar chapters of Thomson Reuter’s ‘Comparative Overview of Insurance and Reinsurance Law and Regulation’, as well as ‘The Insurance and Reinsurance Review’, as published by Law Business Research. He also formed part of the Solvency II Directive working group established by HM Government of Gibraltar to oversee the transposition of this important European Directive.

He is also being kept busy with work on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, within both regulated and non-regulated environments.

What they don't say about Christian.
"Christian, like his colleague and elder brother Steven, is an avid football and Manchester United fan, an allegiance which earns him a considerable amount of ridicule at times within the office. He is also a keen sportsman and particularly enjoys playing football at local league level and with friends." Selwyn Figueras, Associate, ISOLAS
