Mark specialises in employment, landlord and tenant, personal injury and general insurance work, coupled with a general local practice involving civil and commercial litigation. The growing importance and inter-relationship at work of employment and health and safety legislation, coupled with the rise in employment-related personal injuries claims, has allowed Mark to have an in-depth appreciation and perspective of daily issues affecting businesses in general and to provide comprehensive and practical advice on the multiplicity of issues affecting local businesses on a daily basis.
Mark joined ISOLAS from being a partner in Triay & Triay, and is recognised locally as one of the leading practitioners in Employment matters, having represented most major employers and trade unions in Gibraltar at one stage or another in his career. His practice is shared between a significant amount of employment (contentious and non-contentious) work, a busy personal injury caseload and other commercial work (contentious and non-contentious) including general insurance and licensing matters. Mark is also highly regarded for his work in Landlord & Tenant matters, which combines well with his other areas of practice.
Mark is a chairman of the Industrial Tribunal of Gibraltar, has formed part of the Minister for Justice’s Consultation Committee on the Reform of Employment and Personal Injuries, acted as legal counsel for a Superintendent of the Gibraltar Security Police conducting a disciplinary hearing, been appointed by the Chamber of Commerce of Gibraltar to review employment legislation and to independently review with the agreement of the T& G Union the dismissal of an employee by one of its members, reviewed the terms and conditions of several major employers in Gibraltar and advised on many TUPE related issues and collective redundancy situations. He has advised most major insurers in Gibraltar, and has a strong commercial knowledge of all issues relating to the petroleum business in Gibraltar.
